HCA Announces Reorganization Sept 28, 2005
HCA today announced changes in the senior management structure of its facilities in numerous states, including Virginia.
Margaret G. Lewis has been named president of a newly created division that includes 16 hospitals in southwestern Virginia, northern Virginia, West Virginia, New Hampshire, Indiana and Kentucky. (HCA has announced plans to sell five of those facilities four in West Virginia and one in Richlands, Virginia to LifePoint Hospitals, Inc.) Lewis had previously been president of HCAs Central Atlantic Division, which included facilities in Virginia, New Hampshire and West Virginia
Patrick Farrell has been named president of HCAs Richmond Division, which includes six hospital campuses in greater Richmond and the Tri-Cities. Farrell had previously served as CEO of Henrico Doctors Hospital in Richmond and as president of the Richmond Market. Lynn Strader, formerly Chief Financial Officer of the Central Atlantic Division, has been named CFO of the Richmond Division.
Lewis will be establishing headquarters in northern Virginia, while the Richmond Division offices will remain in the Boulders Office park in Chesterfield County. The new appointments take effect Jan. 1, 2006.
These changes will take advantage of Margaret Lewis proven ability to manage multiple facilities spread across several states, and it will tap her leadership skills as we pursue growth opportunities in northern Virginia and elsewhere, said Paul Rutledge, newly named president of HCAs Central Group, which includes 58 hospitals in nine states. At the same time, it will provide Pat Farrell the opportunity to focus his attention on our Richmond operations, which is one of HCAs most mature and important markets.
Following the sale of HCAs five hospitals to LifePoint, Lewis will have operational responsibility for the following hospitals: In Virginia, 521-bed Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem; 146-bed Montgomery Regional Medical Center in Blacksburg; 190-bed Alleghany Regional Medical Center in Low Moor; 147-bed Pulaski Community Hospital; 160-bed Reston Hospital Center; 164-bed Northern Virginia Community Hospital in Arlington; and 100-bed Dominion Hospital in Falls Church. HCA has also received approval from the state of Virginia to build 164-bed Broadlands Regional Medical Center in Ashburn. New Hampshire hospitals include 86-bed Parkland Regional Medical Center in Derry and 209-bed Portsmouth Regional Medical Center; in Kentucky, 173-bed Frankfort Regional Medical Center; and in Indiana, 278-bed Terre Haute Regional Hospital.
As president of the Richmond Division, Farrell will be responsible for 758-bed CJW Medical Center (with two campuses, Chippenham and Johnston-Willis); 540-bed Henrico Doctors Hospital (Forest and Parham campuses); 227-bed Retreat Hospital; and 147-bed John Randolph Medical Center in Hopewell.
